At OTG Adventure Park near Del Rio, Texas, deer season isn’t about trophies—it’s about faith, family, and feeding those you love. Experience ethical hunting, campfire meals, and the peace of honoring God’s creation on over 1,000 acres of rugged Texas beauty.

The Quiet Before the Dawn

There’s something sacred about the first light of morning at OTG. The mist still clings to the hills, the air carries that crisp bite of autumn, and the ranch slowly wakes beneath a watercolor sky. Somewhere in the distance, a whitetail steps softly through the mesquite. You can hear your own heartbeat—steady, grateful, reverent.

This is what deer season means here. Not competition. Not ego. But connection—to the land, to each other, and to the Provider who makes all things possible.

More Than a Hunt—It’s a Tradition

For generations, families across Texas have marked the fall season with the same ritual: gathering around the fire, telling stories from hunts past, and preparing for another year of provision.

At OTG, we carry that same tradition with deep respect. Our deer packages are designed for hunters who value purpose over prize. For $1,800, guests receive three nights of lodging, hearty breakfast and camp dinner, and the opportunity to harvest one doe and one buck (8 points or better). Additional harvests are available for $400 per doe, $1,000 per additional 8-point buck, and $600 for cull bucks.

This is not trophy hunting. This is the hunt that fills freezers, nourishes families, and reminds us that hard work and gratitude are still worth practicing.

Faith in the Field

(A reflection from the ranch)

“Lord, let my aim be true,
but my heart humble.
Help me take only what I need,
honor the life given,
and give thanks for Your provision.
May every hunt remind me
that I am a steward of Your creation.”

Out here, faith is not confined to Sunday mornings. It’s in the rustle of leaves, the warmth of a fire, the laughter of family gathered after the day’s hunt. It’s in the gratitude that comes from knowing the food on your table was earned with respect and reverence.

Gathering Around the Fire

When the day’s hunt is done, the smell of mesquite wood and campfire fills the air. Hunters share stories as the stars appear one by one—stories not about antlers or points, but about moments. The first buck a son harvested with his father watching proudly. A daughter’s quiet patience that paid off at sunset. The way everyone, whether they tagged out or not, feels thankful just to be here.

Our fully furnished lodge sleeps up to 11 guests, making it the perfect place for large groups or multi-generational families to share in the experience. Meals are simple and hearty—bacon and eggs before dawn, coffee strong enough to chase away the chill, and dinner made from the day’s harvest.

Hunting with Purpose and Respect

Every aspect of hunting at OTG is rooted in stewardship. We maintain ethical limits, provide guidance for new hunters, and remind everyone who visits that the land provides only when cared for.

There’s pride in harvesting an animal—but there’s also reverence. That balance is what makes deer season at OTG special. It’s why families return year after year, not just for the hunt, but for the renewal it brings.

A Time to Reflect, a Time to Give Thanks

As Thanksgiving nears, deer season becomes more than a weekend pastime—it’s a reminder of gratitude. The venison you bring home feeds your loved ones through the winter. The stories you share become family history. The peace you feel in those quiet morning hours stays with you long after the season ends.

Whether you come for the hunt, the fellowship, or the stillness, OTG offers a space where the world slows down and your spirit catches up.
